In the last few years, the
landscape of the York, Baldwins and Staples Rd
Conservation areas has
changed dramatically as the pace of change has picked up. |
|
The ever increased
pressure to develop larger houses is eroding the tranquil feel
that the
area is loved for, open spaces are under pressure as
more
properties are squeezed into smaller plots. |
|
The incessant flow of
lorries causes damage to parked cars and roads,
creates serious disturbance and blocks roads for
days on end.
Take a look at the massive 'new' 11 Woodbury Hill and wonder How and
Why |
|
The gradual creep of
houses outwards and in some cases, their explosion in size
is cumulatively beginning to destroy the open, green spaces amongst
which we live.
Are we becoming just another housing estate? |
above: the former gardens of Brittens
cottages |
A leaftlet received recently by a local
resident:
|
the developer has now suggested that the
land was never part of the listed buildings,
which is strange, as local residents remember it as gardens before he
annexed it and
the land registry details showed it as part of Brittens Cottages too!
